PROMOTING THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NATURAL HERITAGE OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF LEGRAD

Project „Promoting the sustainable development of the natural heritage of the Municipality Legrad“ was approved under the Call for proposals Promoting the Sustainable Development of Natural Heritage and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

The Leading partner is the Municipality of Legrad.

Other project partners are PORA Regional Development Agency of Koprivnica Križevci County and the Public Institution for Management of Protected Areas in the Koprivnica Križevci County.

Total value of the project is 4.839.671,00 HRK.

EU co-financing is 85%.

Project duration is 46 months, starting from February 2017 and ending during January 2021.

The main project goals are to valorize the natural heritage within the Municipality of Legrad in a sustainable manner in order to contribute to the socio-economic development or the area, improve the attractiveness of the natural heritage area, increasing the number of yearly visitations and establishing a visitor management system.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES:

  • construction of a promenade on Lake Šoderica in the total length of 1.5 km,
  • installation of public lighting,
  • construction of two panoramic viewpoints,
  • setting up urban equipment (benches and trash cans) along the promenade,
  • procurement of 10 electrical bicycles and a hybrid vehicle for transportation of visitors,
  • setting up educational information boards alongside the promenade,
  • equipping of two children’s playgrounds,
  • developing a Visitors Management Action Plan,
  • educations and workshops in the field of natural heritage protection for visitors,
  • development and creation of promotional and educational materials,
  • education of a tour guide and employment during 24 months of implementation.
